Side Project · Windows App

Hold a key. Speak. Your words appear.

HearSay is a push-to-talk dictation app for Windows. Hold your hotkey, say what you want to write, and the transcribed text is pasted straight into whatever you are typing in — email, chat, a document, a code editor.

Runs entirely on your machine. Your voice never leaves your computer.

How it works

Three steps, no setup

No accounts, no cloud service, and nothing to configure before you can use it.

1

Hold the hotkey

Press and hold the dictation hotkey from anywhere in Windows — by default, the right Ctrl key. HearSay starts listening immediately, and it's configurable if you'd rather use something else.

2

Speak naturally

Talk the way you normally would. Speech is transcribed locally on your machine by an on-device recognition model.

3

Release

Let go of the key and the text is inserted at your cursor, in whatever application you were already using.

Requirements

What you need

HearSay runs as a normal per-user install and does not require administrator rights.

Updates

It keeps itself current

HearSay checks for a new version each time it starts and installs it automatically — no re-downloading, no manual updates.
